“Space junk” which from afar resembles tiny paint specks, are debris left over by humans satellites that are now trapped into the universe. The debris have different scales depending on the point of view.
The shapes were inspired by the forms of actual debris, the paint specks laser cut on each shape represent the perception of space junk in the universe. The sculpture plays with lights and shadows to disorient the viewer.
DEBRIS
These works focus on debris accumulated on a surface.
The wood was carved to create the dimensional effect of the paint. It challenges the traditional ways of painting
The carving is very delicate in order to almost be perceived as a thin layer of paint. When looking closer at the carved areas, the wood grain becomes visible and creates a beautiful natural dynamic.

SABER'S BEADS
These works are inspired by the duality between dark and light alluding to an eclipse. Saber’s beads is the broken arc of illumination surrounding the moon. The gold has been carved with a laser cutter to be damaged and broken. They are references to the relationship between nature and humanity.

INTO THE WOODS RESIDENCY: A LOOK BACK AND WHAT'S NEXT
Into the Woods, my solo exhibition and atelier supported by the Miami Design District, offered a unique opportunity to connect with the Miami arts community and work on large-scale commissions. It was a joy to welcome local and international visitors into the studio, share the creative journey, and host engaging events. Here are the highlights and achievements we celebrated together.
OPENING RECEPTION KICKOFF & DESIGN DISTRICT’S PUBLIC ART TOURS
The residency kicked off with a vibrant opening reception, setting the stage for an exciting studio stay. The space was also featured in the Design District’s public art tours for the public to see and experience the work firsthand. Visitors engaged deeply with the experience and gained an intimate understanding of the artistic process.
FAIRCHILD GARDEN X JOYCE BILLET COLLABORATION
The residency exhibited part of the Woven project, a large-scale installation inviting orchids to attach to the sculptural artworks. This ongoing installation integrates living orchid flowers into sculptures, exploring the relationship between humans, nature, and art, sparking conversations about human impact on native life. The unveiling of the project was accompanied by a workshop with Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden’s Million Orchid Project. Participants learned orchid biology and took home micropropagated seedlings, deepening their connection to art and nature.
WOMEN IN ART & ARCHITECTURE TALK
As part of Women’s Month, I co-hosted an engaging panel discussion with interior designer Meghan Grehl. The talk was moderated by Neil Ramsay, “The Creative Economist,” and hosted in the atelier and exhibition space. The discussion highlighted the contributions and challenges faced by women in art and architecture, attracting an audience, including local media, in various fields and sparking meaningful conversations.
PRATT INSTITUTE ALUMNI EVENT
The Miami Alumni Network celebrated the 135th anniversary of the Pratt Institute with a gallery tour, including a visit to The Maldonado Collection and Into the Woods. This event honored the institute and its alumni, strengthened connections, and highlighted Pratt’s legacy in art and design.
THE NEXT CHAPTER BEGINS...
